Small Water Cycle and Soil Carbon

Get to know the health of your soil through simple DIY tests in this practical field day led by Soil Scientist, Philip Mulvey. We'll discuss the importance of mending and maintaining the small water cycle and how to build and track soil carbon on your farm. Hosted by Ryzo (previously Carbon Count).

Demo & Practice: we invite you to bring about 250g of your best and worst topsoil and soil from 30 cm deep and 4 empty jars to participate.

About Philip Mulvey
Philip Mulvey is a soil and landscape scientist with over 40 years of experience as a consultant and business owner. He has founded or owns several businesses, including Carbon Count, Environmental Earth Sciences International, New Soil, EESI Remediation, Tuckerbox Bakeries, and 3D-Ag.

His expertise in different climates and agricultural systems around the world, as well as his work advising restoration projects for damaged land, provides him with unique insights into the disruption and restoration of water cycles.

His book, Ground Breaking: Soil Security and Climate Change, discusses the loss of the small water cycle from land which results in more extreme events such as droughts, floods, severe frosts, extreme heat events and bushfires. The book provides practical solutions for agricultural management to enable the restoration of landscape, climate and community.
