Rehydrating Your Farm Landscape - Introductory Workshop and 2-Day Bootcamp - WA

  • Paraway McLarty Road Benjinup, WA, 6255 Australia (map)

Retaining water at Boyup Brook

Join the Mulloon Institute’s Lance Mudgway to learn how Landscape Rehydration helps to retain water on farms, repairs salt scalds and reduces waterlogging. Hosted by Warren and Lori Pensini on their holistic planned cattle grazing operation ‘Paraway’, hear about their regenerative agriculture journey, how rehydration practices were integrated into their farm planning and take a paddock walk to on-ground works that were completed earlier last year.

Lance Mudgway is a hydrologist based in Wagin, Western Australia with over 20 years’ experience managing surface and groundwater in WA’s agricultural landscapes. He has 16 years’ experience as a hydrologist working in landscape repair in response to salinity and land degradation issues in the WA Wheatbelt, bringing extensive experience and knowledge of natural capital, landscape properties and processes.

Lance will also be joined by Erin Healy from the Mulloon Institute. Erin is a Landscape Planner with environmental engineering and regenerative agricultural qualifications. Erin has recently conducted a Literature Review of Landscape Rehydration in Western Australia.

Introductory Workshop and 2-Day Bootcamp
There are two workshop event options:

Introduction to Landscape Rehydration

When: Tuesday 21 March
What time:
 1:00 pm-4:30 pm.

Learn about:

  • The fundamentals of a farms water cycle.

  • The Mulloon Institute’s tailored approach to rehydrating landscapes.

  • The Pensini’s regenerative journey on Paraway.

AND

Rehydrating your farm 2-Day Bootcamp

When: Wednesday 22 - Thursday 23 March
What time:
9:00am-4:30pm.

This 2-day workshop builds on the fundamentals of water and how land use influences the health of a property. We will:

  • Offer hands-on activities to develop an understanding of the benefits of a
whole-of-landscape approach to successfully rehydrate a rural landscape.

  • Improve your ability to identify important parts of the water cycle within your own landscape and learn how to assess the health and function of these parts.

  • Get an in-depth understanding of Landscape Rehydration tools using Paraway’s extensive on-ground works installed in 2022.

  • Practice skills to restore and optimise a farm’s water cycle using a range of scientifically grounded tactics and strategies that Mulloon Institute use.

  • Help you to develop an action plan for your property and build your confidence in making landscape rehydration decisions using the 7 Steps to Success.

The 2-Day Bootcamp would usually be priced at $1000 per person, however, this event is part of the WA Community Stewardship Project which is supported by funding from the Western Australian Government’s State NRM Program, so a substantial subsidy is available.

RSVP is essential. Limited places available.

The Mulloon Institute is a leading not-for-profit organisation in sharing and demonstrating innovative regenerative landscape practices. Landscape rehydration actively improves water quality, builds soil fertility, sequesters carbon and increases landscape resilience. With the help of the WA Community Stewardship Grant, we are now able to demonstrate the benefits of landscape rehydration across the Wheatbelt.

This project is supported by funding from the Western Australian Government’s State NRM Program.
